Introduction

Entrepreneurs all over the world are part of a group of people providing solutions to many societal changes and contributing significantly to making lives simpler and easier for humanity. It is however a very challenging task to start a business (Startup) and grow that setup to become a successful business.

Many local and multinational businesses today were once startups – they are now fully fleshed institutions providing solutions and jobs that help in improving the economic situations of humanity.

In Ghana, like some other parts of the world, there are no adequate support system for startups. They face challenges including availability/access to startup capital, office rents, payment of staff salaries or allowances, marketing which is one of the most integral part of every business.

Against this background, Senyo Global Solutions – an IT firm and AM Network – a media business is embarking on this project – Ghana StartUp Clinic to empower and support One Hundred and Sixty startup (ten participants per each region) in Ghana every year for the next 5years.

The project is being piloted from September 1, 2021 with ten startup businesses from Volta (3), Eastern (3), Central (3) and Greater Accra (3) regions.

Objectives

The project aims at:

  • Empowering and supporting 160 startup businesses per year for the next 5years.
  • Providing beneficiaries with the needed skills to help them grow their businesses
  • Providing marketing platforms and market the products and services for these beneficiary businesses for one year.
  • Providing fund raising platforms and workable bank, mobile money and online accounts to facilitate easy payment systems for the beneficiaries
  • Help register the businesses of the beneficiaries

How It Works

Activities

Get to understand the GSC:

  • Every year, the project will select 10 start-up businesses from the ten regions of Ghana. For the purposes of this piloting season, the Project is recruiting 12 business from 4 regions.
  • Owners of startup businesses in these regions must complete these applications form and outstanding candidates through a very rigorous and competitive process is selected.
  • Selected candidates will be provided with a one day a face-to-face and online training in the areas of business management, fund raising, book keeping, sales & marketing, customer services, technology for business (social media, website, emails), partnership building and how to integrate technology into every business decision making process

The Package

Each participating business or candidate(s) benefit:

  1. A fully developed corporate website and corporate emails from Senyo Global Solutions for one year
  2. Setup of online payment platforms including verified PayPal accounts
  3. A media coverage and publicity for the business from AM Network and its media platforms (Awake News, Awake Africa and VTV) for one year
  4. Digital marketing for one year
  5. Mentorship
  6. Certificate of Participation

Important Timelines:

  1. September 5, 2021: Opening of Application
  2. September10, 2021: Closing of Application
  3. September 11, 2021: Announcement of Shortlisted applicants
  4. November 2, 2021: Training – a one-day residential training
  5. November 3, 2022: Assigning of Mentees (Graduates) to Mentors
  6. November 11, 2022: Launching of beneficiaries’ websites
  7. December 12 to November 30, 2022: Marketing and Digital Marketing for beneficiary businesses

Eligibility

  1. Applicant must be stationed and have his/her business in the region her/she is applying from
  2. The Applicant must have at least WASSCE/SHS certificate or in the case of a group/limited liability company, one person must have at least WASSCE/ SHS certificate
  3. Candidate must be available to participate in the 5days training and conference
  4. Application must complete an online application form
  5. Application must demonstrate he or she has started a business (registered or not registered) which is not more than 5years old and not less than three months old
